Baruch Foodies
Welcome to Baruch Foodies, a blog dedicated to the person with an appetite for food. This blog is aimed to give you a unique perspective of the food scene in New York City. As students at Baruch College, located in the heart of the City, we understand what it’s like to live in the city and be surrounded by great restaurants, great cuisines, and great cultures. We are four authors, each with our own special take on places to eat as well as some homemade dishes for when the wallet or the time is tight. Please look through this blog and feel free to comment and share this blog with your friends and family.

Café Orlin

Came here for a late Sunday brunch. The food has a Mediterranean flair to it. The food was decent.
Entrees:
1) Malawach - the Yemenite fried bread was pretty good; reminded me of Native American fry bread
2) Middle Eastern Breakfast - small portions but the eggs were cooked well and the cheese was good
3) Goat Cheese Tomato and Spinach Omelet - the omelet was okay; the potato salad was pretty good as well
The service was a little slow, but they let us sit there for a while as we ate our meal & just chatted. I liked how they had several different kinds of brunch drinks that you can add to your entree (if the entree is listed on their brunch special) for $6. The mimosa tasted like fresh OJ which was a nice touch.
$20 for an entree and a drink - not bad, but I would rather pay a little more & go to an AYCD restaurant. Usually when you go to an AYCD brunch spot, you go for the drinks and will accept an "okay" entree. The level of the food here was about the same as an AYCD restaurant (actually, I've had some really good brunch food at some of the AYCD restaurants in NYC), but without the fun of bottomless mimosas.
