Baruch Foodies
Welcome to Baruch Foodies, a blog dedicated to the person with an appetite for food. This blog is aimed to give you a unique perspective of the food scene in New York City. As students at Baruch College, located in the heart of the City, we understand what it’s like to live in the city and be surrounded by great restaurants, great cuisines, and great cultures. We are four authors, each with our own special take on places to eat as well as some homemade dishes for when the wallet or the time is tight. Please look through this blog and feel free to comment and share this blog with your friends and family.

Gyu-Kaku
Are you a meat lover? Do you like Japanese cuisine? Then Gyu-Kaku is the perfect place for you! Located in East Village at 34 Cooper Square, is the Japanese Barbeque Restaurant where customers get to grill their own meat. What could be better than eating meat right off the grill?
Gyu-Kaku is perfect for students looking to eat quality meat at an affordable price. With their various lunch specials (11am - 3pm) ranging from $10 to about $27 per person (tax and tip not included), Baruch students can go with their group of friends and enjoy a filling and delicious lunch. The restaurant also has an awesome happy hour menu for all you students going for dinner.

Service at Gyu-Kaku is very attentitve. The waiters and/or waitresses were quick to bring our food out. They also changed the grill pans frequently, so we would not be grilling the meat on a burned pan.
The food at Gyu-Kaku does not only focus on meat. They also have a variety of entree dishes consisting of Japanese cuisine, as well as Korean cuisine. A dish I would recommend would be the chicken garlic noodles, which is the restaurant's number 1 must try entree dish. Although the dish is a bit on the oily side, I found it very flavorful. I can't remember which meat was what, nor which meat went well with the three dipping sauces, but they were all melt in your mouth delicious. As for dessert, there were special prices during the lunch special. My friends and I tried the green tea crepe cake. It's been on my to try list for a while, and I finally got to eat it. I loved it and recommend you try it!
Overall I do recommend coming to this restaurant with your friends at least once. It won't dry out your wallet if you go during the lunch special period, just don't go crazy ordering too much.
