Baruch Foodies
Welcome to Baruch Foodies, a blog dedicated to the person with an appetite for food. This blog is aimed to give you a unique perspective of the food scene in New York City. As students at Baruch College, located in the heart of the City, we understand what it’s like to live in the city and be surrounded by great restaurants, great cuisines, and great cultures. We are four authors, each with our own special take on places to eat as well as some homemade dishes for when the wallet or the time is tight. Please look through this blog and feel free to comment and share this blog with your friends and family.

Momoya
Sushi Bar

WARNING: This restaurant is NOT cheap! BUT, it is my all time favorite sushi place in all of New York City! If you go at the right time you may even dine next to a celebrity. We sat at the sushi bar and ordered the crispy rice to start. Little did we know it was going to be so good that we'd order another after our sushi. For my sushi I really like the spicy salmon roll, it has a mild spicy flavor and the salmon is very fresh and buttery! I also like to get the Alaska roll which has avocado, cucumber and salmon. The crunch of the cucumber compliments the clean flavor of the avocado. My next staple is the tuna jalapeno roll. It is not on the menu, but if you ask for jalapeno in the tuna roll they will make it special for you. They put just enough jalapeno in the roll that it gives it a good spicy kick but it is not extremely powerful. You can finish the whole roll without your mouth feeling like it is on fire. I’m getting hungry just writing this - I hope you are too. If you come to New York and you want to try some excellent sushi in the heart of Manhattan make sure you make reservations at Momoya sushi bar! Love the ambiance during lunch hour in the summer time. I don’t come for anything unusual, just unbelievably solid and fresh sushi. I also love the pork gyoza. I've never had a bad meal here and absolutely love it at lunch time. Dinner is equally as fabulous but is pretty busy and the wait time can get a little long. When you are finished your dinner don’t forget to try the Mochi! Mochi is a real unique desert from Japan. Mochi is Japanese rice cake made of mochigome, a short-grain japonica glutinous rice with ice cream on the inside. My favorite is the green tea mochi, so make you sure you try it! The macha ice cream inside the mochi is a real unique flavor for your taste buds!
