Baruch Foodies
Welcome to Baruch Foodies, a blog dedicated to the person with an appetite for food. This blog is aimed to give you a unique perspective of the food scene in New York City. As students at Baruch College, located in the heart of the City, we understand what it’s like to live in the city and be surrounded by great restaurants, great cuisines, and great cultures. We are four authors, each with our own special take on places to eat as well as some homemade dishes for when the wallet or the time is tight. Please look through this blog and feel free to comment and share this blog with your friends and family.

Da Andrea

Forget Little Italy! If you want to eat handmade real Italian pasta in New York City, you need to check out Da Andrea, located in Greenwich Village on 13th street between 5th and 6th ave. This is the kind of place that tourists don’t discover and locals love. Da Andrea has a wide variety of traditional Italian Dishes, New York style! Aside from the menu that includes Italian delicacies such as RAVIOLI for $14.50 (HOMEMADE VEAL & SPINACH RAVIOLI WITH CREAM, MUSHROOMS, PROSCIUTTO) and PAPPARDELLE for $14.00 (HOMEMADE PAPPARDELLE WITH SWEET SAUSAGE & TRUFFLE OIL) they will always have a long list of mouth watering specials that will be read to you by your wait staff. So, make sure you hear the specials before you make any eating decision. Like true, Italiano style, they offer wine by the carafe. I suggest sharing the house Merlot in a carafe to accompany the fresh and truly flavorful pasta offered at Da Andrea. It can be hard to find a place that is consistent each and every time and I like that their prices are not crazy like many other Italian restaurants. The pappardelle was one of the best I've had, perfect texture and all the flavors were well-balanced. You can definitely tell it's handmade. The service is helpful without being intrusive and the atmosphere is warm, rustic and clean. It just feels like you're sitting by the fire at your parents’ house. Just a warning though, make sure you save room for dessert because I always get carried away with the complimentary focaccia and olives!
